Globally, coral reefs are under threat. From 2007 to 2024, more than 70% of coral populations across Mauritius have been lost to a combination of climate change and negligent tourism activities. Passionate about conservation, we founded Reef Gardeners, an organisation that collaborates with the private sector to make a difference.
At Reef Gardeners, our goal is to raise awareness and educate local communities while conducting targeted reef and mangrove restoration activities, primarily funded through project investments from local luxury hospitality stakeholders. However, before we can get to this point we need your help to get our first nursery into the water.
“Together with the private sector and local government, we hope to drive sustainable, long term mangrove, seagrass and reef restoration activities to preserve and expand these ecosystems currently at threat in Mauritius.”
